The Japanese Manga series Spy x Family, was created by Tatsuya Endo.

The plot centres on a spy who must "create a family" in order to complete a mission.

A Westalian agent with the codename "Twilight" is charged with spying on Donovan Desmond, the head of the National Unity Party within Ostania, in order to preserve the state of peace between the opposing nations of Westalis and Ostania. The only way Twilight can get near to Desmond, who is notoriously reclusive, is by enrolling a child in the same private school as Desmond's sons and passing himself off as another parent.

Twilight adopts Anya, a young orphan girl and marries Yor Briar in order to project the appearance of a content family. He takes on the alias Loid Forger and works as a psychiatrist at Berlint General Hospital.

Unbeknownst to him, Yor is a skilled assassin, and Anya has the ability to read minds. Yor and Loid are unaware of each other's true identities, and neither is aware that Anya knows their secrets and real occupations.

Later, the family adopts Bond, a canine with precognitive skills. Twilight must develop the skills necessary to play the role of the ideal father and husband in order to complete his task, despite these unknown variables and his sporadic instances of common-sense failures brought on by years spent as a spy.

MAIN CHARACTERS:

Twilght is an unnamed spy from Westalis. He has extraordinary combat, memory, and information processing capabilities. He creates the identity of Loid Forger for his new mission. Not much is known about his previous life, not even his real name or age. It is shown that he was a war orphan when he was a child and then eventually became the spy known as Twilight. He rarely remembers his childhood, no longer being able to recall his mother's face. As a master of disguise, he uses various faces and names for each mission. In both espionage and everyday life, Twilight is incredibly gifted and skilled. Even though he comes across as cunning and pragmatic when carrying out his missions, he gradually shows his sensitive side to his family. Over time he develops true affection for them, even though he does not publicly express it.

Yor Forger (née Briar), is a 27-year-old professional assassin with the moniker "Thorn Princess," who works during the day as a staff member at Berlint City Hall. Unmarried young women are thought to be spies, so she consents to a false marriage without knowing Loid's history.  She accepts Loid's lie that Anya is his biological child from a previous marriage. Despite her job as an assassin, Yor is a genuinely kind person with strong maternal instincts. After becoming a family with Loid and Anya, Yor becomes more expressive and opens up to her co-workers, asking for help on being a better wife or cooking. She is protective of her faux family, especially towards Anya, whom she has no trouble defending with extreme violence.

Anya was an experimental human test subject known as "Test Subject 007". Though unconfirmed, the experiments may have resulted in her gaining the psychic ability to read minds. The only confirmed details of her past is that her name "Anya" and that she had been adopted by several families, only to be returned to the orphanage each time. Because of her ability to read minds, she is the only one who knows the overall situation of her family and their secrets. But she conceals her ability and knowledge, both out of excitement and fear of abandonment. Her true age is currently unknown although she claimed to be six years old because Loid needed a six-year-old for his mission and she desperately wanted to be adopted by him.

The dysfunctional nature of the family, notwithstanding, the Forger Family genuinely learn to love and care for each other over the course of their adventures and misadventures.

Spy x Family is among one of the best-selling Manga series which has now been adapted into an Anime. It has received recognition for its humour, artwork, and storytelling.
