MANHUA

Manhua are Chinese-language comics created in China and Taiwan. The term "Manhua" was first used in Chinese literati painting (ink wash painting) in the 18th Century.

Manhwa is the Korean equivalent and Manga is the Japan version of Manhua. However, unlike Manga, the majority of Manhua is printed in full colour.

Manhuajia is someone who creates Manhua through drawing or writing. The author or artist of a Manhwa is called a Manhwaga whereas a Manga artist or writer is called a Mangaka.

Web Manhua, often referred to as Digital Manhua, is a developing art genre in China. Social media and web manhua portals, have lesser restrictions than the nation's rigorously regulated print publication channels. This makes it easier for Manhuajias to digitally upload and distribute their world instead of relying on Print Media.

A number of Chinese Web Manhua have recently been turned into animated or live-action series, some in collaboration with the Japanese Animation Studios.
